Duke Energy really tried to raise my BBP amount from 117 to 152! It went DOWN last year and we did not use more energy (in fact we installed new insulation). @DukeEnergy protected monopoly rate hikes are a scam @NCDEQ @NC_Governor why are y’all allowing them to do this

Cameron (@JCameronJoyce) reported from Raleigh, North Carolina

Another great reason to break up the @DukeEnergy monopoly is because their customer service isn’t even connected. Moving service from W to E NC and they don’t communicate the service request and now double billing me from an address I vacated two months ago.

  • DE_JeffB
Jeff Brooks (@DE_JeffB) reported from Raleigh, North Carolina

@davidmohrmann3 @FortuneMagazine @DukeEnergy We have actually proposed eliminating individual card fees for Duke Energy Carolinas NC customers (looks like you are Charlotte-based so would be your service area) as part of a request we recently made with regulators. Hopefully we can deliver this benefit soon!

Constant rate hikes as @DukeEnergy uses its customers’ hard-earned money to rig the system into allowing construction of unnecessary fracked-gas pipelines and power plants. #EnergyJusticeNC #EndTheDukeMonopoly

  • HeatherBuckeye
Heather Marie (@HeatherBuckeye) reported from Raleigh, North Carolina

@KoughTheSicknes @DukeEnergy It would be fine if it wasn’t so frequently and if they would maybe give us a heads up that we were not going to have power so we could plan our lives accordingly. It also really sucks having to get ready for work with no power or having to take showers in the dark.

@DukeEnergy Will do! This is at least the 4th time this has happened in the last month and every time it happens we aren’t informed ahead of time and workers can’t give us an ETA of when power is going to be restored. @KoughTheSicknes

Despite our yards being marked like football fields, the contractors replacing underground lines in our neighborhood for @DukeEnergy have hit the following in a 4 house span - two water lines, one internet line, and one power line. In what field is a 75% error rate a good thing?!

    Rick Trotter (@rtrotter15) reported

@ForwardCarolina @DukeEnergy 1. Datacenter demand growth should be paid for by a premium on datacenter electricity consumption, phasing out over some years. 2. Stockholders should be paying for this demand growth (investment) as it represents an increase in future earnings.

@lisasorg @mlhewlett @DukeEnergy Phones are also recording devices and cameras. If the policy is to keep these devices out of court rooms, which is legal, is it also legal to enforce the policy on government meetings where the law specifically says the public is allowed to record and take pictures? @Swole_82 @DukeEnergy Hey @Swole_82, I totally get the frustration—going from $200 to $798 bills in 5 years is insane and nobody should have to deal with that. 😤 If you’re open to it, I can show you options for solar energy that could help lock in lower costs long-term and reduce reliance on Duke’s

@kgarciadumont The same thing happened with @DukeEnergy during Hurricane Matthew in 2016. There were multiple documented cases of union crews being told to turn around and go back home because Duke Energy didn't want to pay up. The sure give their execs big bonuses every year, though.

@JenAgainDoh @will_doran @DukeEnergy Yes, Rep got us here. In 2025, the R majority legislature voted to let Duke Energy delay planned carbon-emissions reductions &also allow it to charge customers for new power plants before they’re built, even if never completed, shifting the risks from stockholders to customers.

  • Ned_Griffin

@DukeEnergy @OddHistorian Nothing like the ole we want to help DM us BS Tweet. Extra fees are how companies like @DukeEnergy get around having their requests for rate increases turned down.

@DukeEnergy kinda funny how not only does your energy costs per watt keep increasing every month, but so does your number of outages in my area. How weak is your infrastructure if one car can take out 1500+ customers for 5+ hours. Mind you this has become a monthly thing near me
