WriterInfo.tk (@writerinfo) reported@lumentechco aka @CenturyLink and @quantumfiber excel in bad customer service. Email to my client says: "Beginning in October 2025, your CenturyLink internet service will be upgraded to Quantum Fiber . . . " Part of the "upgrade" is this: "If you have a value-added service, it will be removed from your account before your internet service moves to Quantum Fiber. Value-added services include Static IP, Personal TechPro, and Inside Wire Protection." Yea, right, removing Static IP etc is an upgrade? Liars.

YoJoLo (@YoJoLo7) reported@Jeriath27 @Jason91760248 @Starlink I'm surprised by the "there isn't the capacity to serve anyone else in my area charge." The peninsula I live on has a very large low income population of about 70%. I guess they're tired of pretty much the only provider (CenturyLink) of very slow internet on the peninsula

Rob Leathern (@robleathern) reported@uwukko If you’re using your ISP’s or carrier’s DNS servers, they can see every domain you look up. ECH doesn’t help with that at all. For ECH to actually hide your destinations, you need the full stack: 1.Encrypted DNS (DoH or DoT) pointed at a third-party resolver like Cloudflare (1.1.1.1), Google (8.8.8.8), Quad9, etc. 2.ECH support in your browser 3.ECH support on the website If any of those are missing, there’s a leak. Using your carrier’s default DNS is the most common gap—they see every query in plaintext, By default, all three major US carriers use their own DNS servers when you’re on their cellular network. Your phone automatically receives the carrier’s DNS server addresses via DHCP when it connects. The major home ISPs use their own DNS servers by default, and queries are unencrypted. Spectrum (Charter), Comcast/Xfinity, AT&T Fiber/Internet, Verizon Fios, Cox, CenturyLink/Lumen. The pattern is universal: ISPs provide their DNS as the default because it’s useful for them.

Just Steve (@just_steve01) reported@PaulKragthorpe @CenturyLink Thank you, I had CloudFlare's DNS, but those were failing too. Centurylink has gotten so bad since Lumen bought them and they were bad before that

WriterInfo.tk (@writerinfo) reported@lumentechco has exceptionally bright people in customer service. Following is a true exchange on Sep 15, 2025 with a @quantumfiber supervisor after a business gets an email saying the Internet connection will be “upgraded” from @CenturyLink fiber to Quantum Fiber (brands both owned by Lumen). Q: Will the migration from CenturyLink to Quantum Fiber put the account behind CG NAT -- Carrier Grade Network Address Translation? A: No Q: Do you know what CG NAT is? A: No Q: Can I talk to some one who knows about networking? A: Our company does not do networking. Note: The “upgrade” also includes the removal of (and no ability to get back) value-added services, such as static-IP numbers. Lumen CEO: Kate Johnson. She has the uncanny ability to hire smart people. No wonder the stock value is down.

Nutcracker (@LibertyLes83864) reported@CenturyLink Thanks, Kriti. CS techs were powerless (NOT AI). It was the field techs who canceled every time because the issue was not at the residence. They just didn't notify ME it would take a week. They text my phone to CALL THEM. 100 minutes with the same troubleshooting AI & hang up.

Filthy Patriot (@filthypatriot) reported@CenturyLink Hey @quantumfiber @ATT Centurylink says this is your fault. Your tech support keeps telling me it is Centurylink. ATT bought my libes from Centurylink. Att has some type of cap on my fiber service. Care to fix it so I receive the service I pay for?
