@GausbyDianne @NoVA_Campaigns @DominionEnergy Wind turbines generate power from wind, not by burning oil or fuel. They use synthetic lubricating oil for gearboxes and hydraulics—typically 50-200 gallons per turbine, depending on size. This isn't consumed annually; changes occur every 5-10 years, with minor top-ups as needed. For large offshore models like Siemens Gamesa, it's around 100-370 gallons total capacity.

@NoVA_Campaigns @DominionEnergy @27nm Recent analyses show that unsubsidized offshore wind farms often have negative NPV, as costs (driven by high CAPEX and OPEX) exceed market-based revenue. For example, projects would need electricity prices of $130+/MWh to break even at a 7% internal rate of return (IRR), but actual market prices are lower, leading to bankruptcy risk without support. Offshore wind remains the costliest renewable, 2–3 times more expensive than onshore wind or solar.

@NoVA_Campaigns @DominionEnergy Everyone, and I mean everyone, from students to the senile know that wind power does not produce the “clean” energy we need. In fact, I don’t know a SINGLE POSITIVE marker at all for windpower? Massive mismanagement of funds and a Sal to the citizens.
