USPS does NOT lose money on deliveries for internet shipping companies (ie: Amazon). The Postal Service is required by law to make money on those deliveries.

  • jacobbogage
Jacob Bogage (@jacobbogage) reported from North Bethesda, Maryland

@KCA207 @kevinschaul So that’s not necessarily true. Yes, the prefunding hurts, but the main issues is first class mail volume. Even without the prefunding obligation (which USPS hasn’t paid in a decade, anyway), it’s still very much in the red.

  • arianedatil
Ariane Datil (@arianedatil) reported from Bethesda, Maryland

Hey friends... I need some help! Do you know any local (in the DMV) USPS branch workers? Mail delivery people? I need to chat with one ASAP about the increase in holiday deliveries!

  • rscotteisenberg
Scott Eisenberg (@rscotteisenberg) reported from Rockville, Maryland

@AmazonHelp And now it’s my problem to track down the USPS. Not good.

  • LenieJ2
LenieJ (@LenieJ2) reported from Bethesda, Maryland

@RepJamesComer how can you remove 671 sorting machines, 100’s of blue boxes, deny overtime and tell people to go home early and NOT have delays. USPS a service, not a business. Reform, ok, but not demolition. Too much kool-aid, mr. Comer.

  • ellesohelle
elle ✨ (@ellesohelle) reported from North Potomac, Maryland

@heyypay I’ve been having the same issue but (according to the tracking anyway) when UPS transferred it to USPS for delivery they realized the address was wrong and sent it to my new address and I should have it in a few days. So just set up mail forwarding with USPS!

  • bobkestell
bob kestell (@bobkestell) reported from Rockville, Maryland

@EconTalker @KlingBlog Problem is, isolation is not happening here to the degree necessary to resolve this. Today I visited ups store, usps, super market and Home Depot today. All we’re doing regular if not thriving business and unprotected face to face interactions were the norm.

  • CrossfitToddc
💪CryptoCommander🔱 (@CrossfitToddc) reported from North Potomac, Maryland

@RepAdamSchiff Are you fxxg kidding me, Sir!? You’ve been in Congress how long now during which the USPS has been an absolute disaster and NOW you want to ‘save’ the postal service? Honestly how does your wife even sleep in the same house as you? You’re the epitome of the Mad Hatter for the HOR

  • upcommagitty
gitty up o7 (@upcommagitty) reported from Potomac, Maryland

Saw a USPS man jump out his USPS whip to close a gas tank on a car at a stop sign. This (among many other reasons) is why the USPS is the superior government service

@USPS Passport walk in hours are 9-1 Saturday at Cranford USPS and getting there at noon should be fine right? Wrong. Supervisor lets the guy doing passport window to lunch at noon and says “come back next Saturday”. Great service. 🙄

  • HighestOneYet
    ItWontGoHowUThink (@HighestOneYet) reported

@CultureCrave Everybody greedy. Lol. @amazon for the monthly cost of your service, you’d think your employees would either A: be paid more, or B: you’d actually have employees to deliver our packages instead of usps. But hey, capitalism.

USPS burning cash while Amazon needs delivery partners and $FDX/UPS face pricing power — weird arbitrage opportunity brewing as government logistics fails 📦

@kcranews USPS is a complete and utter failure. Not a public service. A financial trainwreck.

  • RepRickCrawford
    Rep. Rick Crawford (@RepRickCrawford) reported

🚨Important Tax Season Information 🚨 From now until Wednesday, April 15th, rather than mailing tax returns from your house or by the USPS blue mailbox outside of post offices, you should take your mail into the post office and ask an employee to “hand-cancel” your stamps. This will ensure that your mail is postmarked the same day you bring it in and avoid the IRS charging you for your tax-return being late. If you wish to take even more precaution, paying the additional $5.30 to send your tax-return by certified mail will provide you with a tracking number and allow you to require the IRS to provide a signature at the time of delivery, providing proof of delivery if somehow your taxes get lost by the IRS.

Haven't had an Amazon subscription for 8 years now. Canceled it when they started outsourcing their deliveries to USPS, who only delivers packages when they feel like it out here.

@USPS you really need 2 start holding your delivery workers accountable...... It's like every other week my mail is being delivered at the wrong address, I am getting mail in little we are sorry your letter is damaged bags but the money is missing from the cards. Like its getting a little old at this point

@skillz17q Theory: this is happening because @POTUS is revamping the USPS, effectively cutting the deep discounts Amazon was getting for delivery through the Post Office. The truth is the US govt has been subsidizing Bezos’ cash cow.
