@TaraSetmayer @StateFarm You are expecting insurance to take complete responsibility and that is not what it is meant for. The fact that the water sat for 5 months is on you. I work in disaster recovery and you can’t just blame insurance.

@sfsportsfan01 @TaraSetmayer @StateFarm Allstate has had a reputation for years as the worst for homeowners insurance (Google Allstate & Hurricane Katrina) but in recent years, State Farm & Farmers have adopted similar practices, all in an attempt to not pay out on claims. Oddly, it’s the ones you see on tv all day.🙄

@AltheaAikens @TaraSetmayer @StateFarm There is no clause in a policy that says "it's up to you unless you don't have the money". That's not how insurance works bud. Sorry!

@VikingNature @TaraSetmayer @StateFarm My area was declared a disaster after Irene. The water was going down by itself anyway as the water receded. And an inspector came and said my house was safe. But we had no heat or hotwater. Now hot water for almost two months. Ice cold by October.

@StateFarm @TaraSetmayer NBC runs a series called “Cost of Denial” and only when the segment runs do insurance and health insurance companies all of a sudden want to settle the matter. Why didn’t you settle with Tara a year ago?

If you want to have an insurance company that is helpful, honest, and fair, by all means do NOT use @StateFarm. They are flat out deceptive. 3 generations using them, and when you need them they let you down. Greedy bastards.

@TaraSetmayer @StateFarm You are likely misinformed. You can DM me the policy - we do hundreds of StateFarm claims and all their policies are standard - we are NOT a preferred vendor. Ideally insurance will be there in sudden and accidental property losses and offer assurance along the way while also protecting their own investors interests. We can now tell with 98% certainty if a loss will be covered or not. - If loss is covered, we mitigate further damages, bill the carrier and get paid (not as fast and as easy as 10 years ago, they always find ways to delay and pay less - sometimes unethical). Most of the times on the repair side the homeowner is shorthanded by SF and we recommend options - so far only a handful of claims needed lawyers. Homeowners always WIN with our documentation. -If loss is likely to not be covered, we stabilize for a reasonable time 7days max typically for an adjuster to determine coverage. If no coverage, we provide the homeowner with a out of pocket estimate for mitigation/repair, we waive the stabilization charges to help them out - about 20% of the time we continue and help the homeowner, but most of the time homeowner has somebody else - a lot of this times the homeownercomes clean and tells us he knew about the long term damage and feels stupid now for not doing anything about it. We do restoration after ServPro or Service Master or other TPA (program vendors) who are NOT experts in property restoration and always wait and do what the adjusters are demanding, most of the time not in the best interest of the homeowner. Almost always the homeowner dropped the ball, was not correctly informed about their responsibilities, the damages are now huge (in Georgia we get mold very fast) and is very hard to make the case of carrier bad faith. We still win a decent amount of this claims with proper PA, very detailed documentation and rarely lawyer. BEWARE, most lawyers will lie that they can help you when they know this cases have less than 20% chance of success. You can DM a link with all your documentation and I can give you honest feedback.

@TaraSetmayer @Acosta @StateFarm I warred with Allstate who wouldn’t pay us on a home completely burned down. They claimed we hired our old college friends to burn it down. House was robbed and after thought they burned it down. Took three years for them to give us an only partial payment. It was horrible.

@TaraSetmayer @StateFarm State Farm and Allstate are both awful. As a former public adjuster, I’m sorry to hear you hired one that was not helpful. Is it too late to get a referral for a good one in your area or an attorney?

@TaraSetmayer @StateFarm Years ago when I bought my first car, my insurance company said he called @StateFarm "Snake Farm" because of how awful they were. That was in 1983. They've only gotten worse since then.

  • BowTiedRestore
    BowTiedRestore (@BowTiedRestore) reported

@TaraSetmayer @StateFarm Likely based on your contract/policy with StateFarm it was your responsibility to mitigate for further damages - its painful that in your area you couldn't connect with a reputable water damage restoration business that is honest and could guide you through your claim process. It is true most property insurance companies nowadays are harder to work with, but with a competent property restoration partner, sometimes with a good PA and rarely with a decent lawyer you ALWAYS WIN. I agree that it shouldn't be this way. I agree that no carrier is "a good neighbor" or "by your side" or "in good hands". Very sorry for your losses. 🙏

@BowTiedRestore @StateFarm Incorrect. State Farm was supposed to cover remediation. Instead they took over two months to determine it was a valid claim. Which is insane. During that time there was no movement on anything. We couldn’t just front 10s of thousands of dollars. That’s what insurance is for.

@TaraSetmayer @Out5p0ken @StateFarm Im so sorry. I had State Farm from the time I was 16 until 45, when they canceled my homeowners for a burst pipe claim. So I know how you feel, but with the added insult that we pay the highest insurance rates in the country here in Oklahoma.
