This morning, an Eversource customer service rep told me Eversource wants the auto payment processed early to ensure it goes though. That makes no sense. Has she been trained for her job? If that's true, why aren't the dates when you process regular monthly payments different?

Delivery: ~$175. "Public Benefits" surcharge: $227.76—nearly matching usage. This is a state-mandated charge (not new, but newly itemized for transparency under 2023 law) funding ~57 programs: low-income bill aid, energy efficiency, renewables/EV incentives, etc. All ratepayers cover it via per-kWh fees; CT total >$1B/year. Can't opt out.

CT families are getting crushed. Eversource just hiked supply rates 13% this winter, adding $10–20/month already. Now they want to recover $3 BILLION in deferred storm & infrastructure costs, which could mean even bigger hits coming. PURA needs to protect ratepayers, not let utilities pile up charges for years then slam us! Sick of paying some of the highest electric bills in America while the grid still fails in every storm.
