How Azure billed us $25,000 > Be me > run experiments across AWS, Google Cloud, and Azure > script terminates all instances across all cloud providers > Normal charges from AWS and GCP after instances are termianted > 12 days later, get a notification about a $25,000 bill from Azure > Thinking we got hacked > The Azure dashboard makes it IMPOSSIBLE to figure out *what exactly* was incurring charges. Just a bunch of generic cost break-down > Finally figure things out and delete all resources in the resource group that was previously turned off > Somehow, half the instances were off but not "deallocated" and half were both off and deallocated (but the script used the same command for all instance terminations??) > Ask Azure to dispute charges because this makes no sense > Azure closes ticket without a resolution??? > Reopen ticket > Azure: Sorry, we understand, but nothing we can do > ?????????????????????? @Azure @Microsoft this literally rips apart our research funding and limits our future projects. This is the most messed up way to bill off of weird policies like this

Looked at our @Azure bill and found out constantly feeding time-series data in Azure Open AI to build Turbostream was a bad idea. Glad we have a sorcerer, @chandangbhagat. He whipped up Time Series Lean Notation (TSLN) and reduced the token size by 80%. Not even TOON was comparable on how much input token we saved with TSLN on time series data.

Any of you @Azure #AVD experts out there able to suggest where I may have messed up permissions on a host pool such that it is not visible in Windows App or web client for a user in an Entra group that should have access. I've compared permissions at the pool level with a visible one, which are in the same resource group, as well as app group, assignments & session hosts & I can't see the issue. I feel a script coming on ...

@anyrun_app microsoft @Azure is among the worst to be abused because their ASN is the same across all their services, making it harder for cybersecurity teams to block out the offending traffic. google cloud platform is also abused. but it can be tracked and handled better than the azure. it's high time @Microsoft took up some responsibility and move their services to different ASNs.
